The Project

Work plan

To provide new insights in the impact of liberalisation and privatisation, the PIQUE research will proceed in five phases, including a description of the various forms of regulation of liberalisation and privatisation processes; an assessment of their impact in terms of employment, productivity and the quality of services by means of data analysis, a number of company case studies and an international survey; and a number of dissemination activities, including a workshop series and an international conference. The five major phases of the PIQUE project are:

Phase 1: Taking stock - national modes of liberalisation and privatisation
Phase 2: Assessing the impact - employment, labour relations and productivity
Phase 3: Understanding restructuring processes and the management of change
Phase 4: Assessing quality, accessibility and accountability - the users' perspective
Phase 5: Integrating results, developing policy recommendation, involving stakeholders and disseminating research findings
